Engagement offer rescinded

I once was engaged, but the woman called it off, ended our relationship, all that sad sort of stuff. It was rough. Thank goodness the Ohio Democratic Party has shown me the light. I now rescind the engagement offer. It’s a brilliant move, and why don’t we all think more like kindergarten pupils, as the Ohio Dumbocrats are now doing?

Marc Dann

The party on Saturday voted to strip Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann of its endorsement — for the 2006 race. Wow! That’ll show him: We’re not supporting you any longer for the race you’ve already won. So there! And nah!

It didn’t seem the Ohio Dumbocrats could top the Republiscandals’ deputy chairman, Kevin DeWine, demanding that a woman who had pleaded guilty to federal charges step down from her elected position. Really? You wanted her to resign? Because the prison thing probably wouldn’t handle that for you, Mr. Tough on Ethics.

But, the Dumbocrats soared past that with Saturday’s move. At least it was historic. This was the first time in their history that the Ohio Dumbocrats have stripped an officeholder of his endorsement, The Associated Press reports. Not that it matters — Dann already holds the office. “The party obviously felt obliged to go on the record with a strong statement of their view of the situation,” Ohio Treasurer and fellow Democrat Richard Cordray said, according to AP. Obviously.

Some of Dann’s friends have been forced from his employ in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal brewing in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Dann has united Ohioans — in the belief that he should resign, which he refuses to do. Both parties are considering impeachment, with Gov. Ted “Waffle House” Strickland first threatening it if Dann wouldn’t resign but then saying impeachment would have to involve an actual serious crime. Something about the state constitution or something that Waffle House discovered.

But, now that the Democrats have handled the endorsement and I’ve seen the light on my engagement, I’m pretty sure there was a girl in like seventh grade who wouldn’t dance with me. Looks like I’ll be busy rescinding that offer, too.
